Central banker: Russia’s GDP to grow 1.7–1.8% in 2017
MOSCOW, Nov 29 (PRIME) -- Russia’s gross domestic product (GDP) will grow 1.7–1.8% in 2017, Andrei Lipin, deputy director of the central bank’s monetary policy department, said on Wednesday.
The regulator’s current basic forecast encompasses GDP growth of 1.5–2% in 2017.
“The current indicators show that we are descending to the lower part of the range, closer to 1.7–1.8%. Just in two weeks, when the board of directors meets, we will publish a monetary policy report and adjust our forecast there. We can now surely say that it is closer to the low part of the forecast range. This is if we speak about 2017,” Lipin said.
According to the Federal State Statistics Service’s preliminary data, Russia’s GDP grew 1.6% in January–September. According to the Economic Development Ministry’s estimates, economic growth stood at 2.1% in the period.
